The former national director of special events for Barak Obama’s presidential campaign, Mr.Roger Fisk was in KL this month. He wear a Long sleeve batik shirt to give a talk about the success of his presidential campaign.
Yes, He was wearing the right shirt. In Malaysia, a long sleeve batik shirt is considered a formal dress code. You don’t need to wear a jacket or lounge suit to attend a formal dinner in Malaysia. Even attending the performance of Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the dress code is stated as “LONG SLEEVE BATIK/lounge Suit”.
As a result, If you are a foreigner in Malaysia and going to attend important function or meeting VIP, a long sleeve batik will be the best choice for you. Malaysian will love it and the batik dress itself will be a good topics to start a conversation.
The one that Mr.Roger is wearing is block print batik. Other type of Malaysian batik will be hand-drawn batik. Both are 2 major types of batik in Malaysia. You can find different kind of batik shirt at JADI BATEK CENTRE.
